How do I change the placeholder text inside form fields?

How to control the placeholder text inside form fields by enabling inline labels in your form's appearance settings.

The placeholder text inside form fields β€” the hint text shown when a field is empty β€” is set by your store's language and can't be edited directly. However, you can replace the placeholder with the field's label by enabling inline labels in the form's appearance settings.

Note: Not being able to edit placeholder text directly is a known limitation.

How inline labels work

Normally, a form field shows the question label above the input, with placeholder hint text inside the input itself.

When inline labels is enabled, the label moves into the input itself and replaces the placeholder. Since you control the label, this gives you indirect control over what visitors see inside the field.

Enable inline labels

  1. Open the form in Spoks.

  2. Go to the form's looks settings.

  3. Toggle Inline labels on.

  4. Save your changes.
