Why is my store flagged for manual review?

Manual Review Required is an automatic check around 150,000 contacts or 50,000 products, so we can keep Spoks fast while we scale to bigger stores.

If you see Manual Review Required and cannot open shops yet, an automatic check has flagged your store for a look from the team. That check currently kicks in around 150,000 contacts or 50,000 products.

It is not a hard ceiling. As a young company, we review larger stores so we can keep Spoks fast and reliable for everyone while we work our way up to bigger lists and catalogs. We plan to take on more of those stores as the platform scales.

Every contact query scans your product catalog, so very large catalogs can also trigger the same review. That is about performance for you, not a rejection.

What happens next

The team will follow up within a day or two. You do not need to chase it.

If your Shopify customer file is large but you do not actually email that many people, a common path is to trim stale contacts in Shopify first. Several stores have done this as part of onboarding, then we lift the flag.

In Shopify, go to Customers → Segments → Create segment and use a filter for people who are not subscribed, have no orders, and were added over a year ago, for example:

email_subscription_status != 'SUBSCRIBED' AND sms_subscription_status != 'SUBSCRIBED' AND number_of_orders = 0 AND customer_added_date < -12m
