What are flows?

Flows are automated sequences that send posts to contacts based on triggers, timing, and conditions. They run continuously in the background and are used to power your core lifecycle communication.

Spoks supports all the essential ecommerce flows, including Welcome Flow, Thank You Flow, Win-Back Flow, Abandoned Checkout, Abandoned Browse, Abandoned Cart, and Active on Site. Built-in Back in Stock flows are under development. Until then, this use case can be handled through third-party Shopify apps.

Flows are made up of a trigger, optional delays, and one or more posts. When a contact meets the trigger conditions, they enter the flow and receive posts automatically at the defined times.

To create your first flow, go to the Flows screen, click New, and choose a pre-built template or start from scratch. Using a template is recommended, as it ensures the trigger and core settings are configured correctly from the start.

Posts used in flows are created directly inside the flow builder. Each post step has its own filters, which is how Spoks handles splits and branching. Instead of visual split blocks, you control who receives each post by adding filters to that step. This approach is designed to work equally well on web and mobile, while still supporting advanced logic.

Flows can include email, SMS, or both, and once enabled they continuously engage new and existing contacts without manual work.
