Before sending SMS messages, you must activate your SMS Wallet. The SMS Wallet is used to manage billing and purchase SMS credits. SMS sending and sender configuration are not available until the wallet has been activated.

The opt-out method controls how often opt-out instructions are included in SMS messages. This helps ensure compliance with carrier rules and local regulations.

The default SMS segment length sets how many SMS segments a message is allowed to use by default. Fewer segments reduce cost, while more segments allow longer messages. This setting applies to all SMS unless overridden elsewhere.

Sender configuration determines how your SMS messages appear to recipients. For the US and Canada, SMS is sent using a dedicated toll-free number. This number must be configured and approved before use and supports a custom sender name display.

For international messaging, an alphanumeric sender can be used. This is a custom text-based sender name of up to 11 characters. Availability depends on country and carrier rules.

SMS credits are consumed per message segment. Sender requirements and regulations vary by region. Proper configuration helps ensure deliverability, compliance and a consistent recipient experience.
